What is the importance of OEKO-TEX certification?

The STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® certification ensures that the materials tested do not contain harmful substances, making it a global reference of reliability and safety.

This standard applies to textile and leather products and products in all processing states, including textile and non-textile accessories, mattresses, feathers, foams, upholstery, and other materials with similar characteristics.

At Eurospuma, 93% of our portfolio (between foams and nonwovens) is STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX ® certified. This label confirms the absence of harmful substances in our products, making them harmless to human health.

How are our products tested?

The tests are based on an extensive and rigorous catalogue of OEKO-TEX ® criteria, which is reviewed and updated annually. At Eurospuma, they are carried out by CITEVE - Technological Center of the Textile Industries. These tests consider numerous regulated and unregulated substances that can be harmful to human health.

The standard considers that harmful substances are those that are present in a product in quantities that exceed the defined limit or that, during their normal use, accumulate more than the values defined. It also considers that substances that may have a negative effect on humans and that according to current scientific knowledge are harmful to human health are also considered harmful.

However, OEKO-TEX® it is not a quality label; it only refers to the characteristics of the product in the new state but does not indicate anything in relation to other properties, such as fitness for use, behaviour in relation to cleaning and conservation operations, physiological properties, physical properties, fire behavior, among others. Additionally, the label does not indicate contamination with harmful substances that may have affected an individual article labelled, as a result of deterioration in transport or storage, contamination introduced for sales promotion (e.g. application of perfumes) or poor exposure for sale (e.g. outdoor exposure).

What are the advantages of this certification?

Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 certification gives companies several advantages, adding value to brands. The   Oeko-Tex® criteria catalog, applied in the same way worldwide, provides a uniform requirements profile, simplifying and speeding up the flow of information. This  additional  transparency translates into a significant increase in product safety.

The STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX certificate® also works for several companies as proof of compliance with required supply conditions.

Overall, whether it is baby items, clothing, home textiles or decoration materials, products labeled STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® are trustworthy. Look for this label and protect yourself!
