The car has become an indispensable means of transport for us to move around, but we rarely think about the importance and complexity of its components. One of these components is polyurethane foam, used, for example, in car seats to make travel more comfortable. However, this is not the limit for the application of polyurethane foams in cars. They can be used in arm rests, headrests, padded instrument panels, among other applications.


Let’s start with conventional foams. Conventional 2539 FR foam has been developed for the car cabin, with various applications, including soundproofing. The advantage of this foam is that it passes the FMVSS 302 standard, making it fire resistant.

Generally speaking, car seats are made with moulded foam (foam injected into a mould). These foams have closed cells and therefore do not allow the necessary air circulation to ensure the hygiene and thermal comfort of the seats. However, you can use open cell foams. One of the options in our portfolio is Coolgraph, which integrates graphene particles into the cell structure of the foam, making it 10,000 times more effective at heat dissipation than traditional viscoelastic foams. In addition, this foam passes different fire standards. Yet, Coolgraph's applicability is not limited to seats; it can be used in engines or other applications whose lightness and mechanical properties require flexible polyurethane base products.


As for fibres, the references of the Eurospuma Standard range are used in gaskets, supports, on the roof of the cabin, among others. Formulated from solid polyester fibres, these nonwovens ensure the durability and quality of the products where they are applied. Like all our nonwovens, Eurospuma Standard are produced from recycled raw materials, are durable and easy to wash and dry. A good option is PM-BRXA, which passes the FMVSS 302 fire resistance standard and PM-AEC which is used for acoustic insulation of the cabin.
